Touched by Flames is a joint project by four ceramic artists who make active use of the wood firing technique in their work. A wood-burning kiln is the common factor uniting the group. Knowledge of the related firing techniques and materials is rare among today's ceramic artists. The exhibition highlights the varieties of wood-fired ceramics, from stoneware patinated by layers of ash to the whiteness of porcelain, and shades of ash melting into glaze, in sculptured forms and utility items.
