Picture
My inspiration came from this shape of Japanece makura.

Picture
Ceramic is good material for sauna pillow because it stores the heat that relaxes neck and shoulders. Wood-fired in Bourry box trainkiln.

Picture
A seat cover is packed with a pillow like a silk cushion used to be in Japanese bachimakura box pillows.

Ornament is just a hint of remaining pattern below layers of wood ash.

Note tells how to use pillow in hot Finnish sauna : Heat the pillow in the bench while you heat the sauna. Duck in chill water before use. and enjoy relaxing warmth in neck and shoulders.

Picture
Patterns comes from Asian ornaments, printed with iron oxide and layers of different kaolin slips.

Picture
Only ends are glazed with Celadon to keep rough clay take flame marks.
